The LTA Winter County Cup is taking place between Friday and Sunday at venues all over Britain.
Each match consists of six singles and three doubles rubbers providing a final score out of nine. The winner of each group will be promoted for next years competition while the loser will be relegated.
Roger Draper, LTA Chief Executive, said: Winter County Cup is one of the highlights of the domestic tennis calendar with many of Britains top players competing alongside the very best county players. The standard of tennis is excellent in all of the groups so Id encourage any tennis fans out there to find their nearest venue and go along to enjoy the action.
If you check my link above you will see that they were relegated!
But the LTA continue their principle of only publishing full results of group one (some element of LTA snobbery there!) but they must have results from all of the other venues - I guess it is just too much bother for them, which is strange as Roger Draper has declared "... it is one of the highlights of the domestic tennis calendar"
I suppose we are supposed to be thankful that any results were published at all
Just spotted that Sussex won the U18 Girl's County Cup in February with young Kyria Dunford winning all three of her rubbers. OK, this doesn't mean much to many, but Kyria is the daughter of a friend of a friend and as a tennis fan one takes whatever tenuous links one can!
