(1) Hiroyasu Ehara (JPN) v Lewis Burton (GBR) Genia Gamazov (ISR) v (Q) Jack Carpenter (GBR) James Marsalek (GBR) v (WC) Martin Cuevas (URU) Francisco Aparicio (ARG) v Ashley Hewitt (GBR) Nick Jones (GBR) v (2) Andrea Collarini (ARG)
Another poor draw for the boys, with opponents including last week's semi-finalist (Cuevas), the top seed and worst of all Collarini, who has won 3 of his last 4 tournaments in the COSAT cycle of Grade 1s/2s - his one 'failure' being a semi-final.
Jack had to qualify, which may explain why he and James gave a retirement (or more likely w/o) in last week's doubles final.
Some splendid results in the first round, headlined by Lewis Burton defeating the top seed and world No. 22, reversing last week's straight sets defeat, for the best win of his ITF career. His reward unfortunately is one of last week's semi-finalists. There will not be any repeat of last week's doubles final for Jack and James, as all British interest ended in round 1

QF
(WC) Guilherme Clezar (BRA) v (Q) Jack Carpenter (GBR) Ashley Hewitt (GBR) v (3) Shuichi Sekiguchi (JPN)
First QFs for any of the boys on this tour, but Jack plays a very in-form Brazilian next. Ashley may have more chance against someone who has not picked up many wins on clay, despite his high ranking.
