Somebody's happy - most of you will be able to work out who from the writing style, I'm sure! wink.gif

"I love San Diego!!!!my coach just rented a car, hilerious stuff, bad driving automatic wrong side stuff ha!bout to work out in the hotel gym. Luuushhh.. Then maybe a swim and jacuzzi on the roof and a little sunbathing hehe"

The two in qualifying don't seem to have the nicest draws.

I wasn't expecting Nik to win a set, so I'm not surprised she's not too unhappy about a 3-set loss to Larrière, who beat Nicola George and Lisa Whybourn in straight sets on her way to the Gausdal title in July and beat Cav and Mel on her way to the Port Pirie 25K Final in October, though hasn't won a set in her four 25K main draw outings since that Final.

A decent draw for Lisa - Scandalis is young so probably somewhat under-ranked but she hasn't had any results to suggest that she should be ranked in the top 500.

The first seed she could meet is the lowest-ranked one, (8) Luzhanska, with (4) Screecher de Brito the other seed in her quarter.

I've been restraining myself from that 'scandalis' thing all day - amazed everyone else managed to keep their self-control for so long and that you were the one who 'cracked' first. smile.gif

Talking of embarrassing things, I didn't realise Lisa read the forum ashamed until she wrote:

"Somebody commented on my writing style on Andy Murray message thingey... Is it that bad?!?!"

Oops. It was't even meant to mean anything bad. It's fun seeing a player manage to convey how much they're enjoying life on tour instead of just playing it über-'cool' like some of them do/

So hi Lisa * waves * evileye is it safe to come out now? biggrin

Report on Lisa's 1st Rd from TF:

"Lisa Whybourn (GBR) d. (wc)Zoe Gwen Scandalis (USA) 76(7) 61

1st set was kinda error fest But once W[hybourn] reigned in the error the match was decided. W's form is kinda weird but nice flat drives, was a better striker than S[candalis] but S's defense was pretty good.."

Not sure what s/he means about Lisa having weird form??

Brilliant, there were live scores on bet365 for that apparently. Good to see her closing in on the top 250, would be great to have another Brit in the GS qualy cut off if she can keep climbing.

Cant believe she was unranked less than 18months ago - what an improvement!

What do you think, if anything in particular, Lisa has done to secure such a dramatic rise?
