The qualifying draw is very tough for a 25K, though both JoKo and Mel are seeded to make it through.

Yes, compared to the 25K in AUS, the entry list here is ridiculously strong - not so much right at the top (there's only one player in the top 150, Sophie Ferguson), but all the other DAs apart from one junior exempt are in the 150-225 range and I'm not sure I've ever seen so many top 300 players in a 25K qualifying draw before!

Steven, do you know for a fact that Joko withdrew, or could she have been moved into the main draw? Piter, who is ranked below Joko is the top seed in qualifying, so it's possible Joko was promoted.

That's a good spot! (one I should have looked into myself, but let's gloss over that! LOL) - it said she had been replaced by Dabrowski but you're right, it didn't give a reason, so with luck she has been promoted smile.gif

Very strong field here and JoKo will be slight underdog in her first match and if successful a major underdog in her second round match, but happy to see she didn't withdraw.
