Tough draw for Lisa, who only just missed out on a seeding herself. Hopefully her doubles run this week has cleared some of the rust though, because at her best you'd expect her to win this.

Darnel's rather short record on the ITF circuit consists of one w/o loss, in qualifying last week.

Sounded like she didn't get there to sign in on time!

She wouldn't have been in the draw in the first place if she hadn't signed in on time, I don't think. A bit of a mystery then, but probably not one worth trying to solve!

Lets hope Tara can keep flying the flag. I always forget how close to the top 300 Tara is. Realistically she should be aiming for top 250 by the AO and look to be making qualies of slams by the French/Wimbledon. She has the talent to do that and should be sharing the limelight with Laura and Heather next season.

I'm afraid to me Tara has had a relatively disappointing season. and I had quite high hopes for this season and do want her to really push on, but she hasn't really this year.

She finished last year ranked WR 349 on 124 points, a huge advance from WR 619 at the end of 2009, thus greatly moving in the right direction again. She is currently WR 363 on 125 points.

Within that though is the fact that she had a strong finish to last year.  68 of these 124 ponts have still to be defended including 57 during September and October.  Therefore during the first half of the year I really hoped she could carry on at least that sort of form / points gathering and have already pushed into the top 300.  Unfortunately she has not, and although at one point she did reach a CH of WR 333 she has not really pushed on.

Certainly she had injury issues earlier on the year, but I still hoped for more as I am sure she did.

I am afraid, given that she still has most of her points to defend this year and is currently WR 363, actually anywhere close to WR 300 would be a great achievement by the end of the year, and would be a really good stepping stone into 2012.

All the best to her, and I hope this week can be successful and lead into a really good end of the year.

It is still a pity to me that her strong advance in 2010 was not rewarded by being part of the AEGON funding group, and that omission cannot have exactly helped her.

I do also hope that Tara can turn a disappointing year around.
She looked extremely down when I saw her play at Wrexham.
She started her first round match against JoKo in very low spirits and looked close to tears at times during that match. Possibly off court problems have hindered her progress and it would absolutely fantastic to see her finish the year in better form.
