Josh (MacTaggart for future reference btw, no 'e') has been at university in Indiana, where he has had a fair bit of success by the looks of it, and this is thefirst time he has qualified for a Futures main draw in singles.

Oh bloody hell, I spelt his name wrong in the first 3 places (only used 1 'g') before correcting that and I have still been getting it wrong furious

Serving for the second set twice, at 5-1 and went on to lose 6 consecutive games!

Finally won the match on at least the fourth match point! Great result though.

L16: (Q) Joshua MacTaggart UNR v (2) Tennys Sandgren (USA) WR 313

Josh is one of only two Brits left standing in singles competition this week, the other being Boggo who has yet to play his first round.

Been an impressive week already. Good luck for more.

I presume Josh's next opponents name is a contraction of Tennyson, and not just parents attempting to pre-destine a career.

I remember he got a WC into the US Open qualies a couple of years back when he was unranked
Seems to be making steady progress. Not sure about the name tho.

Still, an impressive week, hopefully the first of many to come. 3 & 3 is no disgrace considering the rankings gap.

I remember reading a while ago that, as his surname implies, he has Swedish ancestors and Tennys was his great grandfather's first name. Hence a coincidence that it has turned out to be so appropriate.

Sorry I didnt take part in this as I am in Indiana and know Josh! He has an interesting game, uses a lot of angles but suffers from lack of a big weapon, has great hands and is very competitive but tough to see him make a major breakthrough without being able to win points easier.
