That might time out nicely for Fed, because I just have this feeling that 2016 might be his last year. I'm not as sure as some that he's just going to go on and on for quite a few more years.

Of course, he might and my 'feeling' might be totally wrong.

only just found this thread, nice one.

yes, definitely agree re Serena and Venus - amazing sports ladies.

didn't use to like them but could appreciate their play. I hate to say it but at their peak I did enjoy seeing them on the odd occasion get beaten. but now I have the upmost respect for them and really enjoy watching their matches. They seem much more rounded personalities too. Serena applauded Cibulkova as she was walking off the court at AO - that would never have happened in the past!

have also read the whole thread just in case the next lady I mention had been included. she has a small mention on CD's post along with about 4 other slightly older female tennis players but I think she deserves a post of her own.

KIMIKO Date-Krumm is an exceptional lady and quite remarkably still playing at nearly 45. I've always preferred the artistry to the power play and always loved watching Kimiko play. so pleased when she returned to tennis and at the moment she's just slipped out of the top 100 at no. 104 but hoping she can move upwards again back into the top 100. She may not have won any grand slams but she was no. 4 in the world at one point and even now wins singles matches against players half her age. Amazing !!!

Oldest man to enter the top 100 for the first time; oldest first-time ATP title winner (34 y 6 mos) ... not to mention first Dominican to win an ATP title. Victor Estrella Burgos - singlehandedly doing his best to reshape tennis statistics. Hurrah for him!

Let's hope it was his own great effort. Dominican Rupublic makes me suspicious as the place is rife with anabolics.

Here's also a big shout for Luca Vanni, WR 149

Age 29, he'd never won an ATP match before in his life - and yet this week he's come through qualies and made it all the way to the final !

This time last year he was WR 700 +

He first made it into the top 200 at the age of 28

Not a single remarkable performance, but I was struck looking down the Delray Beach list that there were four teenagers in the R32 (2 Qs and 2 WCs). Perhaps more remarkably, three won (Rublev d Sela, Kokkinakis d Krajinovic and Nishioka d Sijsling). Meanwhile in Marseille, the younger Zverev qualified (l to Monfils) and Coric is in the main draw. And in Rio, Elias Ymer had a WC (l to Robredo). So seven teenagers playing at ATP level in one week. Granted some were wild cards, but it does bring home the increase in younger players at higher levels.
