Week 44 - Great Britain F10 ($15,000) - Tipton (Hard - indoor)

Sam Barry is in the Q draw as a WC, and completely 'false' quali player.  cry

But there's some very interesting looking draws.

Interesting to see that, in the QR1 round, there are 15 juniors.

Seems a lot higher than usual ......

Victories so far for Luke Oakley and Ollie Hudson. And a "pesky" has taken out Curtis Clarke.

Sam Barry won the 1st set 6-3 against in-form Marcus Walters and we are now in a 2nd set breaker. Marcus had SP in the last game on the Sam Barry serve.

Marcus took that 2nd set tiebreak and we are into a decider.

Don't look now but Marcus is a break up in the decider against Sam Barry. Can he hang on ? What a result that would be.

Joel has taken the 1st set against George Davies and is already a break up in the 2nd.

So close for Marcus but Sam Barry hangs on to take the 3rd set breaker 7-4.

Meanwhile, Joel completes a 3&4 win over George Davies and Jonathan Gray races into a *4-0 lead in the opening set.

Ah pity, so close for Marcus.

It can be really annoying to get drawn against and lose to a top qualifying seed 'ringer', but in this case I hope Marcus takes away a lot of positives from such a competitive close match. He does seem to be progressing well.

I can think of worse ideas than giving Marcus a MD WC for Bath next week.

Yeah, that's the second time in recent months (I believe) that Marcus has lost a really close match in a third-set tie-break to a well-ranked player.

Give the kid a wildcard !

As a major part of the Luke Oakley fan club, am really pleased for him.

The 'Tiran fan club' though is watching the second set tie-break .......

Although I'll forgive Keelan is he wins - the guy's had such back problems, and plays a different sort of tennis,, he's good to watch.
