Valentine is one of the top stars in French tennis.

Age 16, ranked about JWR 200, but - way more importantly - the top-ranked 16 year-old in the domestic rankings - although only made the semis in the Nationals last summer.

Well done to Mirabelle.

I expect she's having a great time with the young French contingent who are obviously there as a squad.

There are four 16 year-olds and the WC 15 year-old playing in the main draw (two have already got a R1 win).

Mirabelle has teamed up in doubles with one of the 16 year-olds, Kassandra Devesne

It must be nice for her to have a group of girls she can hang out with.

QF: Mirabelle Njoze(5) WR 637 v Natalija Sipek (SLO) (4) WR 619

Both are almost identical in ranking and age in seniors, but Mirabelle has a slightly better junior record.

Mirabelle must have a half decent chance of progressing

The top seed likely to await the winners in the semi, who has hardly dropped a game so far.

She must hate Friday Quarter Final day - at least she is consistent

Next week she should be seeded to make the semi final, so here's hoping....

Mirabelle has had so many 10K QFs in a row ( 15 including 2 SFs since June ) that after one more 2 pointer or better, 10K QFs won't add to her counters until next June ( though in turn it would have her having nothing to defend until next June ).

Hopefully she can finish the year reaching later stages, starting with next week, and then push on next year.
