Jo takes the first set 6-3, just the early break to go *2-0 and then holds from that point. At pretty much the same time, Alexandrova took her first set 6-4 against Voegele and the respective winners play each other in the FQR - think I'd rather Jo played the Swiss than Alexandrova who can be dangerous.

Konta up a break in the 2nd as well, 4-2*. The winner will play Alexandrova, who came through in straight sets.

Jo won 6-3 6-2. Seemed reasonably comfortable as the pre-match odds and respective rankings would suggest.

Well that seems to be all our leading players crocked in the lead up to the Australian Open... Hope Jo does recover ok in the next week, but not a great omen.

This is the 4th time in the last 2 years that Jo has retired just before a Grand Slam. There was Wimbledon 2017  but she still went on to reach the semi-finals. There was then Australia 2018 and the US Open 2018 where she lost early on in both events. Unfortunately really pessimistic about British prospects for Australian Open 2019.
