To just update the ITF rankings with this week's rankings: Aleksandra is 426 (up 50), Emilie is 318 and Katarzyna is 479
That's a good win for Ola. She is showing steady progress - she and Shuto had similar WTA rankings at the end of last year. Next up she will have the 2nd seed unfortunately, a very good junior player - after Emilie and her sister get the 1st and 3rd seeds in the first round - so good luck to her with that.
R32: Aleksandra PITAK (GBR) UNR/426 17yrs beat Minami SHUTO (JPN) UNR/813 (CH:1130 Oct 18) 6-0 6-3
R16: Aleksandra PITAK (GBR) UNR/426 17yrs vs Simona WALTERT (SUI) [2] 583/70 (CH:438 May 18) 18yrs (JCH:9 Jan 18)
I thought we might win one of the doubles matches at least, but we lost both in straight sets, although both pairs had chances to win sets but let game advantages slip.
The Pitaks lost 4-6 6-7(4) to Cabaj-Awad/ Ganz [2] (having been 5-2 up 2nd set), and Emilie + lost 4-6 3-6 (having been 3-1 up 2nd set).
Kasia recovered from 0-3* to *4-4 in that first set. Too much of an effort I would think, as after she lost her serve again she only won another seven points.
Yes, so sadly our three complete their going out to the top three seeds, all beaten quite comfortably in the end, but I hope all learning experiences they can build on. Was surprised our doubles ended as quickly as it did, so that's it from here this week.
So far for next week all three here are in the top 5 for qualifying, so at least Emilie should end up in the MD and possibly one or both Pitaks, Ola being at the head of the queue.
