Tereza Mihalikova is the player who beat Katie Swan in the Australian junior singles final of 2015. If you don't count Katie's win at Wimbledon in 2018 then amazingly this pair have never won a singles match on the main WTA tour. Also apart from trying to qualify for Auckland and Australia in 2016 and Prague in 2019 Mihalikova has never appeared in any other qualifying draw for any main WTA tournament. Her highest singles ranking is 349 and it just illustrates that not all junior singles champions make it in the seniors.
Lost yet again in the first round. 7-6, 6-4. She really is on the most terrible run of form and with 23 points to defend this week according to WTA list will surely drop a bit more in the rankings.
Yes close, but not close enough. A poor run means you always tend to lose the tight ones through lack of confidence and tightening up.
R32: Naiktha BAINS (GBR) 278 lost to Risa OZAKI (JPN) 309 (CH:70 April 17) 6-7(4) 4-6
On OER this week, HarryGem, Naiktha drops net -7 pts and will fall about 7 ranking places too, then next week she drops another -14 pts, and will then be near to falling out of the top 300.
As I noted back at Surbiton, the only time I've seen Naiktha look 'happy/into the match/wanting to be there' on a court is playing doubles, there with Naomi where they were unlucky to lose, by a whisker, to Hev+
