Week 43 - ITF (W60) - Saguenay, Canada - Hard

Just waiting for the singles MD to appear on my laptop, but have the doubles draw now.

Sam and Bibiane Schoofs (NED) are top seeds and play a Canadian WC pair

Tara and Emina are 3rd seeds and play another Canadian pair.

Well Tara can't ask for more than that draw, and promising junior or not, Sam should have too much for Morvayova

R32: Tara MOORE (GBR) 505 vs QUALIFIER
R32: Samantha MURRAY (GBR) [6] 272 vs Viktoria MORVAYOVA (SVK) 649 (CH:604) Born 2001 (JCH:48 July 17)

Yes... when looking at the doubles draw I knew I was expecting Sam to be playing with someone else but had forgotten whom!  confuse

But yes, no sign of Anna, though she was supposed to have travelled... Wonder what that means?

Theres a bigger British group appearing next week in Toronto so Anna might come out with them. Naomi and a couple others.

Sam currently in action. She started well with an early break which she just about managed to hold through the first set. However in a sign of the pending times she had to save 5 BPs in the final game to serve out for the set 6-3.

Second set though Sam has yet to hold her serve, but managed finally one break back in the last game after being down 0-4*

Now serving for her first hold this set... but with 2 DFs she has been broken again ... this is going to a decider and hope she regroups 3rd set 6-3 1-5*

She has made a good start to the decider, 3-0*, and has just dropped 2 points. Very early start, it is indoors, but must have been a 9am start as it's just 10.30am there now.

Edit - Looks like they only have 2 courts, so not much choice other than to start that early, but on the plus side, every match is available to stream.

6-3 1-6 4-1*

Takes it 6-3 in the third. 9 points secured. Another 25 or so before year end will be enough for Aus Open qualies.

Whew, that's a good win. Morvayova looks promising for the future.

R32: Samantha MURRAY (GBR) [6] 272 def Viktoria MORVAYOVA (SVK) 649 (CH:604) Born 2001 (JCH:48 July 17) 6-3 1-6 6-3

R16: Samantha MURRAY (GBR) [6] 272 vs Tess SUGNAUX (SUI) 581 (CH:413)

Good show, onwards and upwards for Sam with no ranking points of much consequence due off before next June.

Once this week's points add in, she will have a full 16 counters but has five '1's to initially replace.

What is the cut off date for qualifying for the AO qualies?
