Week 45 - ITF W100 - Shenzhen, China (hard) - Doubles

L16: Sofia Shapatava (GEO) & Emily Webley-Smith CR 352 (172+180) vs (3) Miyu Kato & Danka Kovinic (JPN/MNE) CR 219 (79+140)

When I saw that Em had withdrawn from the Thailand 25K, I rather thought that I might find her teaming up with Sofia here. Could have been a rather better draw.

Big win, saving 3 set points in the first set. Lovely stuff!

Yes, a big win, worth 25 points. That will replace an 18-pointer for both of them, and covers some 9-pointers due off in December.

Em has no actual counters to cover until well into next year. 25 points though does still give her a net 7 point increase since her 11th counter was 18. Now a further 25 points ( at least ) would be very nice.

Phew. They get the better of the young Chinese WCs and that's 50 of your WTA points so far.

5-7* to 9-7* to 9-10* to *11-10 to 12-11* to 13-11

SF opponents still to be decided.

That win was the result of more aggressive play, particularly from Em who put away some good volleys.
