I believe it would be. She did beat a PR player in Q1 of WTA Birmingham a couple of years ago and received 13 points, but she would get 14 points for R1 a win here. It would certainly be the biggest win, tournament level-wise in a main draw.

Her current CH win ranking-wise is 150 vs Wang Xinyu in Cherbourg a few weeks ago, there's 5 players currently in the Q draw with a ranking higher than that, so there is a decent chance she'll have to better that this week, but it obviously just depends on who qualifies, and who she ends up with.

Paul M - they allow players to enter on the better of singles and doubles. Em and Sofia ought to have just scraped in on rankings anyway, but I'll check the list shortly.

And shed also lose her spot in player of season vote at the same time, although hardly a front runner Id suggest !  

My doubles knowledge isn't very strong, but that Heather match might not be as straightforward as it looks on paper. Xiyu is a talented youngster and was actually the slight favourite in her narrow (singles) loss again Hev in the WTA Acapulco SF earlier this year. She won Jr Wimbledon doubles in 2018, and won 3 lower level ITF dubs titles that year, but then only played 5 dubs events last year, hence her current low ranking, and GGP is currently in the (dubs) top 100, and I can remember her being pretty instrumental in the Fed Cup last year in a deciding dubs rubber win against Japan's renowned dubs pair.

You'd expect two top 100 singles players, both with doubles pedigree, to win, and there obviously could have been far worse draws, but it could be a bit of a banana skin.

You can see the things she's working on for doubles, but obviously they don't really work on a singles court. Hopefully she can get a game here.
