R1: Jack Draper (GBR) WR 321 v [2] Michael Vrbensky (CZE) WR 294

For some reason Vrbensky didn't play his home 25k last week (where Jack made the final). However, he played the Prague Challenger at the start of May, and made the semis.

R1 Dubs: Jack Draper played with Simon Carr (IRE) and lost 2-6 1-6 against an unseeded French pair

quite a tough draw for jack - the field must be quite tightly bunched if the 3rd to 8th seeds sit between vrbensky and jack, jack presumably only just missed out on being seeded and would have been if his result from last week had gone on to his record.

going to be a tough match but one jack should look to win

Yes, Jack is 9th on the acceptance list so unlucky not to be seeded.
However, Vrbensky was 7th on the acceptance list, at 318, which was presumably before his challenger points mentioned above went on.
Vrbensky is exactly two years older than Jack, aged 21; used to be 14 in juniors (I remember his name playing quite a lot of our lads like Aidan, Anton, George Loff etc). Hasn't really smashed into adults but is doing OK.
The betting sites have them as pretty much equal, which seems about right.

Jack lost the first set 4-6

But there's been a rain break for the past 2 hours.

Should be helpful (for Jack), you'd think.....

Jack making a habit of these first set losses and then coming back; another decent win in l16 and another evenly matched opponent next.

On top of a final last week , another decent showing this week

And he is also in qualifying anyway, so presumably committed to that event regardless - although presumably if he reaches the weekend here, he will need to drop out of qualies and hope the alt route comes through into the main draw?

honestly I'm as happy Jack is getting matches as much as he's winning them. needs to have some miles in the legs given how little he's played in the last year
