QF: (4) Ryan Peniston WR 331 d. Mateus Alves (BRA) WR 528 6-4, 6-2
Nice comfortable win for Ryan, achieves his seeding. I have commented before that he seemed stuck at the 350 level, it does look like he is pushing on now(?)
Some nice straightfoward looking wins for Ryan. Based on rankings, he's got a fair chance to win his SF too.
How many points has he accrued so far in this tournament - 6? If so, that works out at just a net gain of 2 points, so if he can get another 1 or 2(!) wins under his belt that would certainly help bolster his ranking up a bit.

It is 6 points so far. That though leaves his total points unchanged since he has 6 points from a 2019 M15 RU due to drop off.
Certainly in profit though if he can get the 12 RU points or 20 title points.

Ah yes, the "dropping points" part - i always forget to factor that bit in, d'oh! .
Yes and with the ATP rankings there is generally quite a lot dropping off over the US Open 2 weeks.
3 weeks worth of 2019 points ( due to the US Open being a week later ) and 2 weeks of 2020 points ( not too active early on after tennis lockdown but still points coming off and for the US Open they were retaining the greater of 2019 and 2020 points ).
Net it does look as if generally unchanged points will see ranking position rises, particularly over these 2 weeks but also generally moving forward too, as the ATP steadily clears the decks of the old 2019 and 2020 points ( I wish the ruddy WTA would do the same! )
live-tennis rankings shows Ryan with the same points ( 156 ) as currently up 12 places to live 319. OER live rankings shows almost the same.
