As this starts on Thursday, thought we should have a thread to this years event.

GB are in Group C with France and Czech Republic

27th November versus France

28th November versus Czech Republic

British team is:

Cam Norrie

Dan Evans

Joe Salisbury

Neal Skupski

Liam Broady

France - Rinderknech, Gasquet, Herbert and Mahut

Czech Republic - Vesely, Lehecka, Kolar, Machac

If we play anything like we can, we should expect two wins in the group stages. Anything less would be a disappointment to be honest

 Too long a name - drop the Davis and just call it the ATP Cup.

In Britains group, Czech Republic took a surprise opener over France as Machak beat Gasquet. Vesely took the opener over Mannarino as well: if the Czechs win, Britain would take that result.

Elsewhere, Sweden beat a weakened Canada with both Ymer brothers winning their singles .

Mannarino won his singles and so it is 1-1. France have Herbert and Mahut in doubles and so should win.

Croatia beat Oz 2-0 as well.

The Czech doubles pair won the opening set against the WTF winners , now into the third set. The French are being pushed all the way by Czechs

France took the tie against the Czechs but it was very close.

Britain play France now on Saturday morning - we can expect , provisionally:

Evo v Gasquet
Cam v Mannarino
Joe and Neal v Herbert and Mahut

Britain probably 2-1 favourites but all 3 matches could go either way.

 Yeah France played a selection blinder then. Mannarino has best chance against Evo and Rinderknech is a sacrifice then as top ranked player v Cam . 

worried about this now, the odds look like France would be favourites on form.

I don't think it was a selection game.

Gasquet lost to a practical nobody, quite easily, so it's not surprising that he was dropped. (sorry, Machac, but age 21 and about 150 counts as a practical nobody in tennis terms). (French news say Gasquet hated the abrasive surface) 

And Mannarino won. 

And Rinderknech has been up and coming - he's already beaten two top 20s this year. 

It's a very reasonable change of team - I don't think it had much to do with the GB team it was facing.

 Well it worked out very reasonable for Evo! And hopefully Cam can seal it for us now!
