 I mean he could do that but also he will have had 4 or 5 days off by the time his match rolls around?

Best to play IMO, theyve had a month or 6 weeks off, match play is good and Dan should get a roll going , or early loss and no harm done

Dan's in good form and seems to play better when he's getting plenty of matches. It would be madness to interrupt the good streak now.

Dan has said in the past that he now feels he should not play the week before a Slam. But the timing of the Aus Open does put it in rather different territory to the rest.

Then again he's clearly already played well last week, not having had lots of matches beforehand. I think it's just a bit of a judgement call here. I wouldn't be much concerned either way.

 I guess it's all about context really. For the FO/Wimbledon, you have a lot of tournaments on clay for a while, incl mandatory events or a lot within a shorter time period (grass) and it being 'home'.

Coria is also out the main draw, so yet another lucky loser will be there. Minimum Quarter Final here for Andy surely. As the withdrawals come in his chances of winning a title and getting back into the top 100 increase.
