Week 2 - ITF M25 - Bath, UK (indoor, hard)

https://www.itftennis.com/en/tournament/m25-bath/gbr/2022/m-itf-gbr-02a-2022/draws-and-results/

There are quali wildcards for Phoenix Weir (born 2005), Kyle Hughes (born 2005), David Fox, Jonah Gethin (born 2004) and Billy Blaydes

(Sorry, this is nowhere as good as SC, or Peter, but I thought at least it would get it going.....)

Giles Hussey I reckon. Played the progress tour in Cardiff reckon he might have a WC for this. Then Toby Samuel and Scott Duncan were on the Q list but not on the draw.

The men have started and there's nice coverage of most matches on the ITF livestream

(Currently watching a little bit of our promising 2005-er with the funky name, Phoenix Weir)

First results in:

QR1: (q1) Toby Martin WR 961 def. Liam Hignett UNR 6-1 6-1

QR1: (qWC) Phoenix Weir (born 2005) def. (q13) Patrick Foley WR 2118 6-2 6-0

QR1: (q2) Buvaysar Gadamauri (BEL) WR 1001 def. James MacKinlay UNR 6-2 6-1

Impressed by Phoenix - got a lot of great points to his game.
Enjoying watching a little of Sahej Maker (do you think his parents were just a little bit tempted to give him the middle name 'trouble'?)

Tuned into some of Phoenix Weir against Patrick Foley. Phoenix looks a reasonable prospect at 16.

Thats a really resounding win for Phoenix over Foley. With that name, he will attract sponsors, and press, attention as well. As he got the look to back up the name? He certainly seems to have some game.

Reasonable height, slim build, honestly a 'normal' looking lad - his 'look' is fine

(Foley played OK but needed to be more dynamic and had the sulky trudge when the slightest thing goes wrong that I absolutely HATE)

Am now watching Kyle Hughes - love being able to put a game to a name

Yes, I know. We've had a lot about him in  the junior section.

But this was the first time I've seen him actually play.

So can now compare him to other highly rated ones
