Week 32 - ATP Masters 1000 - National Bank Open - Montréal, Canada (hard) - doubles

Sufficient Brit interest to warrant a separate thread, I feel.

L28:  (3) Wesley Koolhof (NED) & Neal Skupski CR 11 (6+5) vs BYE
L28:  Alex de Miñaur (AUS) & Cameron Norrie CR 309 (172+137) vs (WC) Marko Stakusic & Jaden Weekes (CAN/CAN) UNR (1654+0)

L28:  Lloyd Glasspool & Harri Heliövaara (FIN) CR 59 (33+26) vs (7) Ivan Dodig & Austin Krajicek (CRO/USA) CR 35 (16+19)

L28:  Jamie Murray & Bruno Soares (BRA) CR 47 (15+32)) vs Daniel Evans & John Peers (AUS) CR 330 (217+13)  hmm

I find it hard to fathom why there are just 28 pairs? 4 dont need a bye in doubles. Makes no sense. Should be 32 . 28 draws in doubles are non sensical

Yes, I recall Jamie & Bruno campaigning against limited Masters doubles draws in trying to assist very good full time doubles players who were often missing out.

I think many used to be 24 pair draws and they were trying to get 32 draw minimums. They certainly got some agreement at one stage but I don't know what the current rules are.

Jamie and Bruno took the opening set but Dan and Peers are up a break. Has MTB all over this. Peers and Dan would, Im sure, like the win.

Possibly - but what was Dan's point (has he said something you are referring to, Mr T?)

There was a storm in a tea cup a few years ago.
