Dan will meet Taro Daniel or a qualifier in last 16. I think hes played and lost to Daniel recently? Edit - seems I am wrong, it was was 2019 when they last met. 2-2 career head to head.

I thought it was odd for Dan to go back to the US so soon, and for one tournament, but I'm guessing now he's on a big push to make the top 20 by the end of the year? There's a bit of a gap to make up ahead of him which he'd close by winning the title.

Dan has played 5 games in 37 minutes, that is 7 mins a game plus. At this rate a 3 setter would be 3 1/2 hours long.

Going to be a battle!

Dan does have a 2-0 record over Giron, last win was the 2021 US Open in 4 sets. Hopefully he will get on top - the first two sets in the previous matches have both been 6-4 7-6 and that would do nicely this time
