In singles, 2 of the opening round singles feature a qualifier against the lucky loser they beat in qualifying - 2 rematches. Also the back story of 33 year old Pecotic. An amateur who works in finance who went to college and got to top of college game. Decided against going pro , went to Princeton; tried again and Covid got in the way so went to work. Hes giving tennis one last go and qualified here after getting into qualies as an alt. Currently one set all against Sock.

Fabulous - as he even got a ranking ?! And where would a win after qualifying for a 250 take him now? He plays Giron next, youd think Giron would be a tougher opponent than the mercurial Sock, but Pecotic is doing well!

Julian and Henry and Jamie / Venus all play later. Julian and Henry have reached new rankings highs again after their opening win, dont think they will rise with another win today but on cusp of top 60.

I switched on the stream on match point down to see Henry leave one and it landed on the back of the line. 14-16 in the MTB.
