If Jodie wins she is seeded to play Ana Konjuh. Ana was a promising player who won Nottingham in 2015 as a 17 year old. This has proved to be her only WTA singles  title as she has had many injury problems since then.

Interesting to see how Jodies first foray into WTA events goes.

With the issues Konjuh has had she is currently WR 651 and a WC. If Jodie wins her QR1 she will play Konjuh or (q4) Victoria Jimenez Kasintseva (AND) WR 156, 19 yo, JCH 1.

Mariam beat Jodie in Glasgow earlier this year so time to set the record straight and reverse that result. smile

Yes, that was in the SF in October - quite early in Jodie's comeback. It is the only time they have met surprisingly as Mariam has played over here quite a lot.

Would like to think that with the time she has now been back, Jodie will have too much for Mariam.

Well done Jodie on what looked like a battle. Our first points scorer of the season.

Rubbish performance from Jodie. Had chances in so many of Victoria's service games yet could never get a break. Gave away her own serve without Jimenez Kasintseva having to do much beyond get the ball back a few times. Victoria defended impressively at times and demonstrated good length when she needed to. In contrast, Jodie's routine groundstrokes often landed just long.

Shame, but aged 19 and already ranked 156 VJK is clearly destined for bigger things.

For the record she beat Jodie 1 and 2.
