Ali won in straight sets.
A good points haul again and it's a bit more complicated to see if he will be back in the top 500 due to ranking delays via Australian Open

Good stuff.

Reaching the final will be enough to get him back onto the top 500. It will take him to at least 84 points in the post Australian Open 27/01 rankings. That is normally fairly comfortably top 500 points, and in the live 13/01 rankings 84 points is equivalent to 479 to 480, wirh live ranked 500 on 79 points. That is enough daylight even for 2 weeks until the next rankings.

Anyway, let's be having another title to take him to 93 points.

What a star !

Well done, Ali

Lovely to see the little fave back and let's hope it's for good - he's still quite young - with an injury-free year, he could be SO much higher

Excellent start to the season, looks like he has withdrawn from Chennai next week. Currently on the Q list for Sunderland the week after.

And surely a good contender for a MD wildcard if needed
