I see Isabella Wong plays Annabella Wong on girls FQR today. Oh heck.

The girls who've qualified for the 18U MD are:

Georgiana Mititelu
Isabella Wong
Sophie Bekker
Athina Schlepphorst
Sophia Christodoulou
Chloe Cleaver
Ciara Moore
Scarlette Hetherington

I don't think Athina has ever played nationals before (always off at her base in the US, I think)

But she's got an elegant game, and look, on the court - a bit more height than most of the others, which helps, and decent techniue.

I don't think Scarlette has ever competed here before, either, but might be wrong and didn't see much of that match

Rose, David, anyone: Do we have any idea why and how Mark is allowed not to take part in the Nationals? Or if he's actively chosen not to, despite the rules (which seems unlikely)?

Just checked and it shows he's in the draw, no? He's seeded 3.

No worries, easy mistake to make, also perhaps surprising that he is not seeded 2 (which is where I was expecting/looked first on the draw sheet). He is in a tricky half with Oli Bonding as a potential SF.

Presumably they followed world junior ranks where Ben is ahead of Mark?

Must have then which is fair I suppose.

Yes, I guess so too - they've got Mika as #1 and Hannah as #2 - although Hannah is 150 places higher in WTA, but Mika is higher in ITF junior ranking

Seeding is based on LTA Rating

Which seems to align quite closely to ITF junior ranking, based on the ones Ive checked at least?

Megan and Hollie won their openers in the girls U18, Megan lost a set though.

Lois Newberry, Tegan Bush, Sophie Becker and Edie Griffiths are among other early winners

Megan plays Mika in round 2, that should be very interesting.
