British Tennis Forum July 2025 Player of the Month Award - Nominations thread

Into July already!!

You know the process - anyone can nominate, just add a player to the list below and give a reason for the nomination.

The nominations process is 4 weeks this month and ends on Sunday July 27th. It obviously includes the whole of Wimbledon main draws, plus events thereafter.

Nomination:

1

2

3

etc

Hard to believe it is halfway through Wimbledon and also one week almost into the July PoM period!

DF has posted the Friday feeling update and here is a link

Any players catch your eye, add them to the nominations list!

Nice one to get us rolling ...

1. Oliver Bonding - unseeded he wins the Roehampton J300 pre Wimbledon singles title, with some very good wins and dropping just one set along the way. GB's last winner was Jack PJ in 2021, Joao Fonseca won here in 2023.

That is Oli's 3rd nomination of the year and he, of course, won the POM vote in February and is in the PoS vote at season end.

Since no one else did it yet!

2. Oliver Tarvet - for winning his first round match at Wimbledon, his first match on the main tour, and putting up a creditable performance against the WR2 and defending champion, Carlos Alcaraz, on his debut on Centre Court.

We just need Olivia adding now and it is a full house!

I was wondering if we had any more Olivers around!

Maybe Liv can have a stunning run in the mixed doubles with Henry (or do something great with Tereza in the second half of the month.)

Yes, good one, Tanaqui. Ollie T certainly moved on really well from his exploits of the previous week / month.

Is he Ollie or Oli by the way. The BBC website reported that he said he definitely wanted to be called "Ollie" rather than Oliver. But he may purely have said it and it's the writer's interpretation / spelling.

And what about Oliver B?

Got to nominate both Cam and Sonay even if they both go out at the next stage but will wait until they have played their R16 matches so the write ups can reflect those matches, win or lose. Great Wimbledon for both of them , cementing their recent very good results.

Go for it Danny, you going to get Sonay on there?

just go into post with last list on it, quote it, take out the extraneous text left in and add a third person, Sonay , to the list and a reason .

you probably know that but just in case!

3. Sonay KartAl-  Fantastic Wimbledon for her , starting with a huge win over seeded Ostapenko, followed by straight sets wins against Tomova and Parry . No disgrace losing to slam finalist Pavluchenkova , in fact Sonay played a good match and had chances but experience told în the end. If she can beef up her second serve a little to make it less vulnerable her progress will be even quicker. And she is up there competing for British number 1 with Emma and Katie.
