Christina McHale is an unknown quantity - she's been out of the game for over two years sine the USO in 2022 and has only played a couple of matches at this level this year, plus a few ITF's.
Lily is capable of beating the rest of the field on her day apart from Tatjana Maria (likely R2 opponent), who is unpredictable at best and unbeatable the rest of the time !

At a former WR of 24, she is clearly very talented; depends where her game is at; Lily hasnt really been on form this grass season, sadly. Or for much of the year.
I see Bouchard is in the draw. Not sure when she last played. Is this a new grass court tournament?
Bouchard is currently unranked and according to the WTA her last match was a QR1 loss in Toronto in August 2024.
This tournament is a revival of the Virginia Slims Hall of Fame Invitational that was last played in 1998. The men's challenger tournament dates back to 1881.

The mens was a 250 for many years and this is the first as a challenger, with the womens being reintroduced alongside it, as TA says

She was supposed to be giving that pickleball a go but maybe it's not gone anywhere
A website called Sportsnet says from February 2025:
Eugenie Bouchard already has her own signature pickleball paddle. Shes No. 17 in the pickleball rankings and constantly appears on the main court at events because shes always a big draw.
Just to be absolutely clear, though, shes not retired from tennis. The 2014 Wimbledon finalist still practices on the tennis court, still competes at tennis events and still has a Women's Tennis Association ranking (currently No. 1,288).
The Canadian standout just has a new sport thats caught her attention. Bouchard is one of several familiar tennis names like Jack Sock and Donald Young crossing over to the pro pickleball scene in another chapter of their careers.

this guy is a billionaire, aged 59, but also supposed to be very good at tennis. Not sure if he bought his place in the event, but him it is. Jose Morgado commented on it last week on X.
Isn;t Jack Sock there as well ? Has a wc in the doubles.
Jack is usually to be found on the Pickleball tour these days. I saw him in a recent tournament and to be kind he was what the locals here in Alabama call "chonky". Not that Jack was ever a svelte lad.
