What ever was bothering her last week doesn't appear to be related to her previous issues given she is in the doubles.  Maybe trying to build more match fitness so 2 singles matches in 1 day is not a problem.

Yes, I think you may be right about wanting matches and the draw this week has her playing the 2nd seed in round 2 so playing doubles gives her at least one extra match

Katie is playing now, currently 1 set all and they've been playing 2 hours 20 so far. Not ideal but she does have a break in the final set.

Sorry, I missed the draw this morning

L32:- Katie Swan (GBR) WR474 def Emma Charney (USA)WR1071 [Q] 4-6 6-3 6-4

(Only Emma's second tournament since November - she's 22 and a college player from the University of South California, so disregard the ranking)

I was unable to find anywhere to watch her but pleasingly Katie won the final set. It was way tighter than I was expecting though

edit: just seen the addict's comment so understand why a lot closer ,.,

That was a battle Katie didn't need. Dump the doubles Katie please, this isn't the time for that nonsense. (I'm usually pro playing doubles but in this case I think a little pragmatism is needed)

providing she's not playing twice in a day, I'm all for Katie having tough matches

But is she a GOOD college player?

After all, just being 22 and a college player doesn't really cut it

Maybe this is a Lambda question

Yes, she is a good college player according to the USC website, but I'll let Lambda explain as the different conferences confuse me.

Absolutely but she's supposed to be playing her doubles shortly.

That was a good win, not many matches does Swan struggle to break her opponents serve, which was the case until midway into the second set, and going a break down. Swan, then came roaring back immediately to win the set, and take it to a 3rd. Probably the qualifier's legs began to tire, but Katie clinched the match in the end.

Swan's opponent today, Emma Charney, won the W15 Clemson, South Carolina tournament in Nov' 24. Entered as qualifier there, never dropped a set, breezed through all the matches, then prevailed in two tie-breaks in the final.

Katie has a bit of a gap between her matches as there are two men's matches before her doubles. The first is into a decider and is well over two hours already.
