Both the women's and mens finals are between Roehampton and David Lloyd Raynes Park

Women's teams
Roehampton: Olivia Gadecki, Dani Hack, Danielle Daley, Eliz Maloney, Anastasia Rentouli, Alexa Wilson (Freya Christie and Stephanie Cornish have not played)
DL Raynes Park : Sophie Drakeford-Lewis, Emily Arbuthnott, Rebecca Hill, Holly Hutchinson, Natasha Richards ( not played Olivia Berry, Ariana Saki, Livvy Tomkins)

Really surprised to see Gadecki playing (because of her ranking; I'm aware this is her European base). I wonder what it would take to change the culture for higher ranking British women to play domestic events?

Mens teams
Roehampton: Anton Matusevich, Liam Broady, Emile Hudd, James Heaven, Ben Gusic-Wan, Michael Shaw, Ali Gray (np Felix Gill)
DLRP: Harry Wendelken, Jay Clarke, Ryan Pension, Millen Hurrion, Matt Summers, Tom Hans, Giles Hussey, Jamie Crowfoot

Good to see Sophie and Emily still playing at this level at least.

Congratulations to Roehampton women who trounced DLRP in the final winning all 4 singles rubbers.
Gadecki d. Hutchinson
Daley d. Arbuthnott
Maloney d. Richards
Hack d. Drakeford-Lewis
Doubles was not played

DL Raynes Park won the mens, though I'm not sure why. Roehampton won the top 3 singles. DLRP won singles 4 and the 2 doubles to tie on rubbers. Sets won percentage were equal. Roehampton won a higher percentage of games.
Gray d. Clarke
Matusevich d. Peniston
Broady d. Hussey
Wendelken d. Hudd
Hurrion/Hussey d. Gray/Hudd
Hands/Wendelken d. Broady/Matusevich

Hi Lambda - I was trying to read more on this event but finding a link is proving beyond me!? I found something called the National Premier League but that seems different and the finals were in May at St Georges!

Any chance you can post something? Thanks!

Thank you! I still find the LTA competitions section so hard to navigate! Haha. But I actually thought they may have a little sub website with more focus on the event; given the levels of players taking part in it. But it is the LTA!

Actually, how do you work out from this that DLRP actually won? As you say Roehampton have the count back stats suggesting they should have won? It doesnt appear to actually say DLRP won? Or does it somewhere? Apart from naming them first? But maybe Roehampton did in fact win it?

V good quality mens teams in this though

DLRP are in bold on the page before when you click on the match.

You play a series of match tie breaks to decide the winner don't you if it's level? At least when I played you did two singles MTB and a doubles one, and it has to be different players in each.

EDIT: To clarify I played in the county level of this, not the National Finals.

Ah, so those MTBs arent shown here, hence it not being clear.

All makes sense and, Wolf, Im sure you played a lot higher level than most of us here!

Yes Wolf's description of the tie break shoot out is correct. There was a change this year in that Roehampton men have won for a number of consecutive years whilst Roehampton women have not won for at least ten years. It's a great competition but there is a huge discrepancy in standards between the South East and the other regions. This year, for example, Roehampton nominated 10 world ranked players whilst David Lloyd Raynes Park nominated 5. It is no surprise that the two competed in the final as no other clubs nominated more than one world ranked player.

Out of interest, are the players paid a fee by their clubs or get prize money? Im guessing its fees plus maybe a bonus for winning?

is this our equivalent of the French club scene that CD often covers?

Yes, it is the equivalent of the French version. It was started and organised for many years by Paul and Shali Hutchins. Up until about 2013 the first prize money was £10,000 per team. The LTA then to decreased it to £3000 for the winning team- which is the level at which it has remained since. In the early 2000's there was a much wider geographical range of successful ladies' teams. Edgbaston Priory and Holcombe Brook (Lancs), for example, always did well. There are about 24 teams in the four National divisions. Of those I think it unlikely that more than 3 pay their players. I believe that the David Lloyd clubs offer free membership to their players at all DL clubs. Big clubs (like Roehampton) can offer use of their wide range of court surfaces. A very small number of teams are assisted by sponsors. It would be very unusual for teams who do well not to fall into one of these categories. I believe that winning teams share the prize money amongst the players. With a squad of at least 6, even the winning team's players are not going to get rich! For the standard of the ladies teams to increase then there would need to be a substantial increase in prize money!
