Served 52 points. Of the 32 points she didn't DF on, she actually won 17 but no service holds.

Had one run near the end of 8 DFs in 10 serves.

Ranah got utterly pulverised by young Giulia cry

She lost 6-3 6-0 - I watched 5 mins and decided there was nothing to be gained from that ....

I guess Giuliia is Romania's best junior player. Interesting that she was asked to qualify. Britain's best juniors are always given wildcards into home main draws. I think the Romanian approach is much more sensible. Feeling confident after coming through qualifying is probably a significant contribution towards the ease of Giulia's victory.

I haven't kept a list but I know Giulia Popa has played quite a bit of adults, and has had wildcards already, so I'm guessing it's more to do with not exceeding her wildcard allowance, not that the Romanian federation don't give out wildcards

Also interesting that she didn't choose to go to the US, for the US Open juniors - she's have been in the main draw with no problem

Maybe a financial thing - or maybe just a different approach, with priority given to adults

Yes, she has used all the WCs she's allowed.

Not going to the US may be a surface preference. She seems to avoid hard courts and doesn't do well on them the few times she plays them. Ironically 2 of her 3 WCs were her only 2 adult hard court events this year so she didn't really benefit from them.
