It's a pity not to have Sonay or Fran out here, given how well things have generally gone for them in recent times. I hope no major problems for either.

She should have won it more comfortably than that. She dropped her serve at 6-5 up...

But she still won it! And is now a break up in the second set. 7-6(3) *4-2

The first set saw 3 breaks each ( 2-4* down at one stage ) with ultimately Katie breaking for *6-5, being broken back, and winning the TB.

In the second, she was broken in the first game, but is now that break up.

Katie returned very well and her serving was good at times.
Getting back to her best levels

Excellent!!  biggrin

Seems almost better for just not seeing that one coming.

Good to hear that she was indeed playing well again ( as opposed to Noskova just having a mare ).

And Katie jumps back above Sonay , for now at least. Obviously, that is likely to revert!

They both have some big points to defend in the next month - Katie 428 in this and the next three weeks, Sonay 150 (100 from Shrewsbury)

Indeed - as Indy analysed in another thread, and Fran is set to be challenging for the #2 spot as well as she isnt defending anything.

Wow .. Great news!!

I didn't see that coming

Hope she can back up that performance with another.

It's all about her confidence. So many times we've seen her lose her MoJo during a match. I feel with Katie, she's never truly believed in her abilities, so loses when she deserves to win

Go Katie!!
