QR1:  (qWC) Rémy Bertola & Mika Brunold (SUI/SUI) UNR (526+0) vs (ALT/q2) Grégoire Jacq (FRA) & Marcus Willis CR 182 (101+81)

The slot open in the main draw, should Marcus & Jacq make it that far, is against Harrison & King (3).

In the singles, Vacherot has drawn top seed Fritz in round one. Rinderknech draws Belgian up and comer, Collignon.

Well, they only need two pull outs for a LL spot...

Really happy for Luke: a win against a class pair who have been playing well. And props to Sander for sticking with the partnership.

I wonder if Sander, by being with Luke, gets access to Louis Cayer etc , like Harri appears to?

Luke is a very good player, could be up there at the very top in a year or two.

Meanwhile in the singles,  I see that Vacherot has now given Fritz quite a match in R1. Fritz won by 4-6 7-6(4) 7-5

Whatever Luke's talent and whatever Sander's loyalty, this isn't a great result, sadly.

Singles and non British. FAA retired a set down. He is 9th in the race and a good 400 points behind Musetti. Not sure if he will play Paris or not but it looks like his chances of qualifying could be shot. Zverev gets over the line and qualifies and Fritz, Shelton and De Minaur are almost there now.

Outside Musetti and FAA, the only others left in with a shout are Ruud, Medvedev, Bublik, Rublev and ADF.

ADF was left out of the Spanish Davis Cup squad and may feel he has a point to prove in Basel, Paris and maybe the week after.
