Alicia lost - it was windy. I'm not convinced by her singles game. She will end up as a doubles specialist
Yes, and I know Alicia has big fans, overall I actually hoped for more progression in her singles since she joined the tour. Feels a very important year for her.
She's an Emily App sort of girl - too good at singles to let it drop completely but better suited to doubles overall
However, she's still very young (only 22) and - given her hip surgery - has been out for while and so not as far ahead as she would be otherwise either
Sometimes players do that when they expect to go further in doubles and have something planned for the end of the week
i.e. if she's got a wedding to go to on Saturday, she might decide to stay for singles (not expecting to still be going come late Friday) but not put herself in for doubles
No idea, of course
But that's a relatively common reason I've seen for an otherwise strange decision

Alicia getting married on Saturday - seems a bit young and only just out of college?

As you well know, I said, if she's got a wedding to go to Not HER wedding
