Boys & Girls: J300 Barranquilla, Colombia, hard (Week 4)

Another J300 qualification for Daniella Britton, who thus joins Rhys Lawlor and Billy Moxon in the main draw. The two boys have drawn wildcards, but Billy could face the strong top seed (JWR17), who opted out of an Australian Open trip, in round 2

Boys R1 (L32)

(WC) Matias Quintero Tobon (COL) v William Moxon

(WC) Chetan Vazquez Quintero (COL) v Rhys Lawlor

Girls R1 (L32)

(Q) Daniella Britton v (6) Klara Blazkova (CZE)

Blazkova is 18 and was runner-up last week in the J300 - that's a huge ask for Dani

Hopefully the boys will be a lot more manageable

Rhys also won

But the big shout-out is to Dani Britton who beat last week's runner-up, and 6th seed

Dani lost narrowly to Blazkova 2 months ago and playing her so soon after the Czech girl's first final for over a year may have been a help. Billy does indeed play the top seed, whilst all seeds have gone from Rhys's quarter

William Moxon d. (WC) Matias Quintero Tobon (COL) 6-2 3-6 6-1
Rhys Lawlor d. (WC) Chetan Vazquez Quintero (COL) 6-1 6-1

R2

(1) Michael Antonius (USA) v William Moxon
(Q) Ignacio de Armas (VEN) v Rhys Lawlor

Girls R1 (L32)

(Q) Daniella Britton d. (6) Klara Blazkova (CZE) 7-6(9) 6-4

R2

Fleur de Bresser (NED) v (Q) Daniella Britton

Another straight sets win for Rhys to make the final, where he has the ultimate test against the top seed, who was mentioned earlier in this thread, and yet to drop a set.

Great week for Rhys.

I saw him in the under 14 Wimbledon a few years ago and he had a big game for someone that age.

Nice to see him come through on the under 18s tour now.
