Alexis has been off and on around Emma's team for quite a while, certainly at least as a hitting partner.

He was actually still showing on the latest ITF site Sheffield M25 qualifying list so looks possibly an enforced late change of plan.

 Don't know. I just recall he was mentioned as being around at least a couple of weeks last year, no prominent mention that I saw.

I think this event is a warm up for Emma to get her match fit, having not played many matches since mid October last year. She has a couple of WTA1000 events lined up after this tournament.

I suspect she is playing due to her family roots and a chance to visit her Grandma in Bucharest
