Katie leads 6-4 *4-2

Just missed a point for *5-1 though.

Saves a break point to serve it out. Good first serves, Riera standing miles back but still firing her returns long time and time again.

Super win.

Monika Ekstrand (US 18yrs old) just beat the #1 seed Whitney Osuigwe (US, and WR#160) in 2 tie-break sets.

When one looks at our girls who maybe haven't quite lived up to expectation, one should definitely keep Whitney in mind

Ex world number 1, Grand Slam winner ...

Expected to zoom into adults

And really hasn't done a whole heap since

Age 23 now, with a CH of 160 or so

Great result. If she can keep fit it could be a big year for her

retired from the match, seemed like the back problem again. The match conditions were difficult for both players, but the gusty wind took all the pace out of the rallies, it was tough just getting a good connection on the ball. It turned every rally into a grind, which just didn't help Katie. Sad to see as the draw was not a bad one, after Swan's good win yesterday.
