Another comfortable win for Mark - tougher opponents await in round 3. Hollie's won her last tournament whilst Mark's is ranked inside the top 20, having won two J300s earlier in the year. Both are on unstreamed courts tomorrow.

R3

(12) Mark Ceban v (6) Mathys Domenc (FRA)

(3) Jamie Mackenzie (GER) v (12) Mark Ceban

Girls R3

(8) Polina Skliar (UKR) d. (11) Hollie Smart 1-6 6-1 6-3

Doubles QF

(3) Skliar/Thamm (UKR/GER) d. (6) Smart/Sybicka (GBR/POL) 6-2 4-6 [10-8]

Poor Mark was 5-2 up in the third set (might even have been 5-1 up)

And was playing/continued to play well

And had a packet of MPs

But Jamie played incredibly aggressive brave points on MP - it wasn't really Mark who did much wrong

And the games had tons of deuces - and Mark just couldn't get over the line

And Jamie is roaring like a lion on every point

And, right at the end, Mark's head dropped

It was a shame - but Mackenzie certainly played some very good clutch tennis

I wonder why Jamie is not playing for Scotland!

To add to the Scottish names playing abroad, he had a successful doubles partnership with German Niels McDonald last year.  Jamie was born in New Zealand and moved to Germany with his father, who is a tennis coach

Boys QF

(3) Jamie Mackenzie (GER) d. (12) Mark Ceban  2-6 7-5 7-5

Mark had tons of MPs against Jamie - couldn't quite do it

But Jamie went on to take the J500 title very comfortably

Some comfort for Mark ????
