Sophia Johnson is in the acceptance list for qualifying, and Athina Schlepphorst is amongst the alternates. The qualifying draw will be some time after 23:00 when the sign-in closes.
Just to mention that this W100 has just been won by:
2010-born Kristina Liutova
She is the Russian girl, 'trapped' in the US for the last 4 years, as her paperwork for visa/nationality/whatever is not happening and so she can't leave the country as she wouldn't be let back in
This means that she has never played any junior event, or adult event, outside of the US
It also means that, up until this week, she's never had any wildcard (as she's not American) and so has had the devil's own job to get 'launched' - the vicious circle of she couldn't play so couldn't get a ranking so couldn't play
Nearly all othe promising juniors get a slew of wildcards to help them pick up those important first points. But Kris had nothing.
If you believe that there's value in things being tough, coz it makes you tough, well, she's a living example.
She'll be close to WR 300 next week in the rankings
The highest ranked girl not only of 2010-ers but higher than all the 2009-ers too
I wonder how the WTA would react if Kristina Liutova makes it into the top 100. As a top 100 player she would be expected to enter WTA events and tour the world. If that is effectively impossible for her it creates a bit of a problem.

Good point - hadn't thought of that
Someone reported that once she turns 18, she'll be entitled to a visa/whatever under different rules, that make it a lot easier
So I guess if she doesn't make it into the top-100 before she's 18, that'll be less of a problem
And top-100 is pretty amibtious
But she's only just turned 16 - it's certainly possible that she does make top-100 quicker....

That would be an interesting situation. But I doubt if she can get that high without playing WTA events, as WR100 is over 750 points. That would be a lot of wins on the ITF circuit, although if she made it into USO qualifying (say WR220 at around 300 points) she could pick up a lot of points.
