It looks like he will need to at least reach the final ( the final would probably be enough ) for it to happen this week.

The SF would take him to 618 points, the final 643 points, and the title 693 points.

 No, not at round 2 stage normally, but putting pressure on himself to get to the top 100, knowing it is in reach. It is a big milestone and we know with examples of Harri H in doubles, trying to attain to a big milestone can certainly impact a player.
