Week 30 - WTA250 - Memphis, USA - Hard

QR1: Sofia Johnson (GBR) WR503 [Q9] v Karman Thandi (IND) WR1342/SR238

Karman's SR is from October 2023.

A very weak and undersubscribed qualifying for a WTA250. Good on Sofia for taking the opportunity.

Doubles

L16:- Mariia Kozyreva () / Maia Lumsden (GBR) CR121 (63+58) [4] v Alexa Guararchi (CHI) / Catherine Harrison (USA) CR892 (774-CH=11 in2021 +118)

L16:- Nika Radisic (SLO) / Iryna Shymanovich (***) CR160 (86+74) v Sofia Johnson (GBR) / Aran Texido Garcia (ESP) CR1600 (1067+533) [WC]

More good planning for Sofia - first round gives $2020 per pair

Certainly very good opportunity grasping. She was a fairly late withdrawal from next week's USA W35.

Surprised more players don't do the same.

Suprised that Maia didn't enter - there's BYEs in the qualis, and Maia's there anyway - why wouldn't you enter ?

Might have something to do with she's playing in the final in Prague today.

 Good point smile

Note to self - should follow doubles more

Next note to self - well, maybe not, but at least not post about doubles-related things - sorry biggrin

Would Harriet have made direct entry if shed gone for this instead of Vancouver?

Possibly - would have to check rankings at the entry deadline. Top seed in qualifying is Prozorova WR156
