Hannah Klugman (GBR) WR342 (age 17) [JE] def Gina Dittmann (GER) WR536 [Q1] 3-6, 6-4, 3-2 ret.

After a slow start Hannah seemed to be on top but it was a topsy turvy match.

Hannah's service seems to have improved a lot recently.

Hannah lost 4 & 4 after having three break points when Adreeva was serving for the match.

Hannah played a very decent match against the 3rd seed and top-200 player

She absolutely had to go for her second serve as any 'normal' second serve got smashed away

So no trouble with DFs - there were a few but part and parcel of the strategy, which was right - she hit quite a few winning second serves too

Avdeeva's forehand was powerful and well placed - any slightly short ball got the treatment

Hannah kept the errors down, far less than some matches, and made more returns than normal

Couldn't really get the game onto her racket, and the score was fair

But she really made Julia A work for it, she was gritty, and gave herself a good chance, including lots of brea back point in the last game (most of which Julia saved with a forehand winner)

A loss, but a very 'useful' loss - lots of good stuff there
