Could be a bad week for Tim: 15 out ofthe 16 players directly behind him are in action.

No- one ahead is defending enough points to start the week behind him.

We'll have to wait until the rest of this week's matches are complete before we can take a view on the runners & riders.

Well with Tim out of Tokyo, and not playing next week, it's time to look at the threats for next week. I make it 19 players could overtake this week, but luckily none can do so in the first round.

Bethan, are you up to doing an analysis?

The table's updated for Monday's results:

Simon & Fish go out behind Tim

Wawrinka, Mayer & Soderling advance: Wawrinka is just one win from overtaking now.

No- one can overtake today, but it's worth watching out for:

Moya who overtakes if he reaches the quarters in Vienna;

Massu, Lee & Benneteau,  who need to reach the finals in Stockholm, Moscow & Moscow.

More remote threats are: Santoro, Ram- Ham, Mathieu, Bjorkman, Mayer, Johansson & Clementwho need to reach finals, Srichaphan, Gicquel, Mirnyi, Safin & Kohlschreiber who need to win.

Eight out of that 17 can overtake, which would knock Tim down to 48th Best case is that none of them do!

The table's updated fro Tuesday (& early Wed).

Chela and Almagro go out ahead of Tim, and Massu, Lee(!), Ram- Ham and  Mathieu go out from behind him so a good day at the office!

However, Vliegen, Benneteau, Bjorkman, Clement & Gicquel advance

The biggest threat left today is Carlos Moya who won his first round match yesterday, and who will overtake if he beats Fernando Gonzales this evening. Pins into Carlos!!

Wawrinka will overtake if he wins his second round match tomorrow.

There's now only 12 threats left this week, but still a maximum of eight who can overtake Tim.

The table's updated again:

Soderling advances ahead of Tim.

Moya, Bjorkman, Mayer, Johansson and Srichaphan go out

The threat today is Stanislas Wawrinka who overtakes if he beats Djokovic in Vienna today.

The other remaining threats are:

Benneteau (semis, Moscow), Santoro & Clement(finals, Moscow) Gicquel(win, Vienna), Mirnyi, Safin & Kohlschreiber (win, Moscow).

So 8 threats left. A maximum of 5 can overtake.

Target those pins on Wawrinka.

Bad news: Wawrinka  beat Djokovic, and Tim's down a place to 41.

Santoro also won, Benneteau is playing now.

The table's updated.

Wawrinka overtook Tim, so he's down to 41st now.

Benneteau is the only threat to go out.

However,  Santoro, Clement, Mirnyi and Kohlschreiber  all advance behind Tim, while Melzer starts to slip away ahead.

To overtake, Santoro & Clement must reach the finals in Moscow,  and Mirnyi, Safin & Kohlschreiber  must win Moscow.

Of the 5, a maximum of 2 more can overtake. Worst case is now 43rd.

Santoro plays Kohlschreiber,  Clement  plays Kunitsyn. All pins into these two today!

Mixed fortunes for Tim in Moscow today so far:  closest threat Santoro is now just 5 points behind him after beating Kohlschreiber.  This does at least mean that Kohlscreiber  is no longer in the running, and nor is Mirnyi, who lost to Davydenko.

In the evening matches,  Clement is a set down against Boggo's competitor, Kunitsyn, and Safin is at one set all against Tipsarevic.

Well  Clement's now out (upset of the week!), and Tipsy's a break up against Safin.  (Boggo can be encouraged!)

The table's updated. There's no- one left above Tim now.

Soderling goes up off the top and into Murray world.

Rochus, Vliegen, Melzer and Wawrinka go out ahead of Tim.

Clement, Mirnyi and Kohlschreiber go out behind.

Santoro and Safin  advance.

The worst case scenario is now for Santoro to beat Davydenko in the semis in Moscow tomorrow, while Safin beats Kunitsyn. Then for Safin to beat  Santoro in the final.  If that happens, Tim's down 2 more places to 43.  So we need Davydenko to win the tournament if Tim's to stay on 41..

Davydenko does the business for Tim: Santoro goes out in the semi- final.

there's only Marat Safin left who can overtake.

But don't put the pins in just yet as if he loses then Kunitsyn overtakes Boggo. We've got to finely balance the pins for this one!

Masterful pin work on this thread too: Safin knocking out Kunitsyn for Boggo, then losing to Davydenko today.

So Tim's safe at number 41 for this week. On to Madrid!
