Indian Wells Doubles

The likely next opponents for Butorac/Murray are Knowle/Melzer - who they defeated handily in Memphis to take the title.

After that, the loss of Knowles/Nestor in their quarter gives them a golden opportunity to make serious headway.

Glad to see them continue their winning ways.

It looks like they're still playing the big points really well which is jolly good news. I hope they do go far here.

Oh and they've made the front page of the ATP - that's what you get when you're the hottest doubles team around!

And with Andy and Tim winning their match too, we have Brit interest in two of the matches!

They seem to have a very nice quarter suddenly, having seen Knowles/Nestor go out also..

From the ATP site - "Wearing their nicknames - Booty and Stretch - on their match shirts"

Does the nickname Stretch come from Jamie's height of 6'3" ?

(or is he just desperate to escape being called "Chicken Wings"?)

I like stretch much more than chicken wings though!

Hopefully I'm not jinxing Jamie and Butorac here but was just thinking how well they played the big points and games and thought I'd check out their tie break record together:

Stretch and Booty have now played 17 matches together (4 at challenger level), winning 16 of these matches, and only losing to the Bryans in the LA final.

They are currently on a 9 match winning stretch (13 including challengers).

They have played 6 tie breaks, winning the 5 at ATP level (8-6, 7-2, 8-6, 8-6, 9-7), losing the only one in the Challenger final (7-4).

They have played 3 champions tie breaks winning all 3 (12-10, 10-5, 11-9).

It's because he's tall and stretches well

Bryan/Bryan just lost 4-6 4-6 to Lindstedt/Nieminen!

That could prove valuable indeed to Henman/Murray and Butorac/Murray...

Jamie and Butorac will play 7th seeds Knowle and Melzer in round 2 after the Austrians beat Fisher/Phillips 10-8 in a champions tie break. The match will probably be scheduled for tomorrow.

Andy and Tim will play alternates Haggard/Wassen who made full use of Mardy Fish's injury to dispatch 8th seeds Aspelin and Kohlmann 10-7 in the champions tie break. Again this should be on tomorrow's schedule.

Let's hope Stretch'N'Booty can repeat their win over Knowle/Melzer of Memphis

Updated table here (Britishtennis.net) as at 12.30am, Tuesday 13th March.

A number of players playing overnight in Indian Wells.

The Sunrise challeger draws have just been released and a number of players on the table are here. But surprisingly no sign of Aucks or Huss.

Coetzee can overtake Jamie if he wins Sunrise and Jamie goes out tomorrow.
