and I was so looking forward to having another shedman on the board
Poor result for Alan as Huta-Galung's had a poor 2007 to date...couple of futures quarters and he qualified for ATP Marseille but that's it, no success in the challengers.
Huta-Galung played very defensively in the first set and Mackin was able to control the rallies with some heavy hitting, particularly off the forehand side. However, the Dutchman changed his tactics for the next two sets and played a lot more aggressively, Mackin was unable to find an answer to the power Huta-Galung was generating from the back with some huge forehands into the corners.
Looks like Alan's heading to the USA next week for the Naples challenger so he continues to clock up the air miles
LOL me too. Do you think maybe there's a perception among British players (Andy, Alan, ...) that simply being better on clay relative to the other Brits is enough to make it their 'best' surface. I'm sure I don't need to point out how flawed that logic would be!

Alan is a bit of a maverick, walks to his own beat I grant you. But I dont think he has ever claimed Clay to be his best surface, I have read at least a couple of times he prefers Hard.
