Nothing like intrigue, but when you report parts of conversations, you do not always get the right context. Why not just ask

Hi Dave, welcome to the site ! I chat to Naomi fairly regularly, she reads this forum (and britishtennis.net) too so good to have two members of Team Cavaday on here !! smile.gif

I'm sure you appreciate that we're all massive fans of British tennis on here and follow the players week in, week out and unfortunately there's not that much press coverage so it's cool for us to read any inside info on what the coaches think on wcs, matches, how players need to improve etc

Best of luck to Naomi for the next few weeks, going to be an exciting time with the amount of progress she's been making lately !

A good day so far for the ladies!!

Wow, fantastic results there especially for Mel South beating no 1 seed Brianti who's top 100 !!!    That should give her a huge amount of confidence as although Brianti's mainly a clay-courter she's still over 100 places higher than Mel and a class act !

Hopefully this grass season can give Mel's year a turnaround, lots of points to defend though over the next few weeks as she made rd2 of Birmingham and Wimbledon last year. A good run here would be handy, she should make quarters at least now

Disappointing though that Anna Smith lost to Rai who also qualified, that was a good opportunity given how well her game suits grass...I heard that she was a bit erratic against Julia Bone on Sat so maybe that proved her undoing today

Great win for Naomi too....nice draw on paper but she told me last night that Hewson's a good grass player, plays a lot of doubles and so would be a tough opponent, nice to see her win so emphatically

Katie had lost her previous two matches to the French girl so great to see a comfortable win today !   5 guaranteed in rd2 now

I think I must admit to having attributed comments to David that may well have been taken out of context. I apologise for that and to be honest was not 100% sure all comments were from David as I had my back to both him and Jo.

I'm afraid I am not confident enough in my knowledge of womens tennis to start clarifying statements with one of our top tennis coach's and a former Top 10 ladies player...but anyway at least I made you join up so thats good news...Welcome

Remind me to wear a disguise in Roehampton!!

(I'm just glad you are not Jamie Delgado after I called him scary!!)

"After my win over Francesca Schiavone at Wimbledon I obviously love playing Italian girls on grass," joked South, who is coached by Lucie Ahl at the Win Tennis Academy at Bisham Abbey.

"I felt really good out there today and I was moving much better about the court and I was never really worried even when I was behind in the second set.

"I just became more aggressive and got back into it very quickly."

Fitzpatrick lost to Klepac 2-6 3-6

Broady lost to Dellacqua 7-6 2-6 6-7 (Shame there)

The more popular this board gets (and the more tennis players sheddie convinces to come on here or forwards stuff to), the more I think posting on here should carry a health warning! wink

I really enjoyed your summary of the day, seagull, and if there was something wrong in it, it's brilliant that someone's come on to correct it.

I would still imagine that most of the posts on these boards (by which I only mean the serious ones, obviously!) are more accurate than what you'd read in most newspapers.

Excellent result for South btw, she clearly loves the grass smile

Yup. She needed that! I hope she's turned a corner with that.

Shame about the Keothavong v Khan result, but I hope Anne can take advantage.
