does anyone know the wildcards for this event. they usually give out a fair few for brits in this one, there is also a cup during this competition that can also be entered. justine henin mauresmo petrova kutsnetsova
have all signed up for this years championships. its fairly soon monday 11th june
I'd give wcs to Cavaday, Bally and probably Anne (given Georgie's injury) for Birmingham and Eastbourne
As you will see from the Birmingham thread you are spot-on for the first. There are at most 2 WCs which can be allocated to Brits at Eastbourne though. On one occasion a few years ago there were no Brits in the main draw, but usually two gain WCs.
I guess it's because it's a higher quality field only a 32 draw (with top seeds getting byes) so I guess the organisers feel that they cannot afford to give away too many places in the main draw to British player
I hadn't realised the draw was so small, thanks. That makes sense I guess. Are there only 2 wildcards altogether then? I thought you'd meant that they limited how many they'd give to Brits out of 4 or 5 wildcards.

Normally there is a third wildcard (fourth in the case of Birmingham) reserved for particular categories of top player, who can be given a late entry. I imagine Maria Sharapova has been accepted into Birmingham via this route.
I've looked at British Eurosport's schedules, and they aim to start coverage on the Tuesday for the first time. BBCi are only down as starting on Thursday (quarter-finals) according to ACE magazine, which is their normal starting day for coverage. Some first-round matches are scheduled for Monday, and about half of the matches involving Brits go on outside courts, so you will be lucky to catch any Brits on TV.
that seems bizarre !! Why give wcs to Anne K and Mel ahead of Bally and Naomi....surely Naomi had to get one after that performance v Bardina and Bally nearly beat the world no 55....
I guess I can kinda understand giving Mel one after she beat Brianti at Surbiton but why has Anne got one
Anne is the British number 1. Only right she should be there at our home WTA's
