Hmm, I'd say that is a horrible draw for Slabba !   Bloomers is unlikely to throw in two bad weeks in a row on grass...he won 6-3, 6-2 last time they met, indoors at the start of Jan. After that match Slabba said that he felt he was better than Bloomers from the baseline but Bloomers' serve was just untouchable that day. The winner's gonna have a really tough rd2 match aswell, looks likely to be Petzschner who's on a roll atm, made a challenger final on clay two weeks ago and then made Manchester quarters last week, beating Dupuis in rd2.

Stadler and Goodall played earlier this year with the German winning 6-4, 6-0 in the cardiff challenger. First set was really close but Josh lost his cool and seemed to lose belief in the 2nd. Doesn't look promising as Stadler's been on great form on the grass : qualified for Halle and won a round before taking a set off Youzhny, made final qualies round at Wimbledon losing to Mahut, made a challenger semi on clay two weeks ago. He lost in Manchester rd1 to the dangerous Rettenmaier (god only knows why he's outside the top 1000) who's now in the final.

Good draw for Kasiri at this level, hopefully he can up his level with it being a challenger...Juska's made 3 futures finals and a challenger quarter this year, most on slow hard or clay...he has done well indoors in the past so grass isn't gonna be problematic for him

Milton's match will be more good experience for him at this level. Same goes for Rice. Bopanna made the semis in Manchester.

Childs has by far the best draw against the unpredictable Feeney who blows hot and cold (ranked 360ish). In Felixstowe he took out Rettenmaier in rd1 (who's now in the Manchester final) but then lost to Ghedin. Last week he crashed out in straights to Uebel (ranked 360ish too). Feeney's a true Aussie, he lists his hobbies as bodyboarding and the beach  

I hope to be there, but it won't be till thursday at least; and that's as long as the rain holds off.

Sorry i've not been able to get on here to post a for a while; we've just had our second child and well it was a bit complicated, but it's looking good now. Our eldest is 2 and a half and we're trying to get him to start playing but he's not very good yet. plenty of time though, although he will proudly assert that when he's older he's going to "play tennis on the telly like rafa"! More of that in 13 years time when he becomes the youngest wimbledon winner ever.

Ed Corrie is the only Brit left...he faces P. EICHENBERGER in the final QR round. Will post other scores later.

Results round-up from today's qualies matches:

Ed Corrie had two superb wins, beating Brydon Klein (Aussie Open junior champ) 6-4, 6-2 and then coming through a tight one with American Shane La Porte 2-6, 6-1, 7-6(4).

He plays Switzerland's Patrick Eichenberger (ranked 886) for a place in the main draw. Eichenberger beat 4th seed Rushby 4-6, 7-5, 6-4 in rd2. Not particularly surprised at that as Eichenberger is a great scrambler, gets so many balls back and it's easy to see how he could have frustrated Rushby into too many errors. He's very consistent from the back, doesn't have that much power but works the ball well from side to side and has great hands at the net

Bamford was extremely unlucky in rd1 against top seed Sam Groth. Neil had match pts in the 3rd set breaker but went down 6-1, 2-6, 7-6(9). Groth then beat Skupski 6-3, 7-6 in rd2

Jim May and Richard Irwin were unable to find the form they showed on the grass last month during Surbiton and Wimbledon qualifying. May lost 6-3, 6-4 in rd1 to France's Xavier Authom while Irwin did win a round before losing 7-6, 6-3 to 3rd seed Luke Bourgeois who used to be top 300
