16 year old Lisa Whybourn really set the tournament alight with her tennis in the final 3 rounds, destroying two much more experienced opponents in the quarters and semis. She's been a consistent performer on the British tour this year, making the finals of all 4 events she's competed in
Beating Becky Llewellyn 1&0 is a scoreline....Becky's so solid and consistent so to hit her off the court like that over best of 3 sets takes some doing
She came so close to taking the title this week, just unable to finish off the dogged Yasmin Clarke . Lisa led 4-0 in the 1st set before Yasmin reeled off 6 straight games but Lisa produced some outstanding tennis in the 2nd to take it 6-1 before Yasmin hit back again to take control of the decider
Peter Greatorex, Tropicana British Tour Manager, said: The womens final was a fantastic match which neither player deserved to lose. Whybourn played some great tennis but Clarke matched her with a very strong tactical performance.
