Why does the WTA have Naomi at 218 rather than 256 today? I make her counting tournaments as being:
Grenoble - 8
Sharm El Sheikh 8 - 8
Talinn - 9
Edgbaston - 9
Phuket - 14
Nottingham - 4
Wimbledon - 40
Granby - 8
Winnipeg - 14
Vancouver - 6
Landisville - 8
Lagos - 24
Lagos 2 - 24
Barnstaple - 30
Zawada - 8
Madrid - 14
Ankara - 32

What a great start to the year for the women. 21 of the top 25 are now ranked higher than they were at the end of last year and all of these rose last week too.
I've been asked whether it is possible to work out how many weeks various players (basically from Anne/Bally/Katie onwards) have spent as GB women's no. 1. My week by week records only go back to mid-2008, so I'd only be guessing for the 6 years or so before that (Bally first became year-end GB no. 1 in 2002, Anne a year later) but I was just wondering whether anyone here does have records (maybe paper records) going back far enough.
Even if someone has, don't bother it it's lots of work, but if it's 'just' a case of flicking through and doing a quick count of the GB no. 1 weeks for each player up to the time when my records start, then it might come in useful sometime (and I would credit the person providing the data if appropriate, obviously!)
I imagine it's very unlikely that someone does have all this data, but it would be silly not to ask then find out later that someone had had it all the time

Can someone help me as i find the WTA sites idea of a points breakdown much more confusing than the ATP's.
Heather Watson - 530points
Breakdown: Australian Open - 40points US Open - 5points Wimbledon - 5points French Open - 5points
Miami - 10points Indian Wells - 65points Sydney - 13points Brisbane - 25points Beijing - 5points Tokyo - 20points New Haven - 1point Cincinnati - 20points Toronto - 1point Eastbourne - 60points
Acapulco - 1point* Luxembourg - 1point* Osaka - 1point* Seoul - 1point* Washington - 30points Birmingham - 15points
*Do not count
Top 16 points = 320points??
I think some of the premier's prior to Eastbourne are missing i'm not totally sure tbh? anyone know what i'm missing. ty
Believe it or not, the WTA site breakdowns don't include ITFs (or at least, they didn't when I last looked and your figures seem to confirm this) - one of the reasons why I've done my own for the GB women - see www.britishtennis.net/stats/ptdf.htm
You're missing 140 points for her Midland win in February, 70 for Poitiers 100K SF in October and 30 for Barnstaple 75K QF in November, while Birmingham (15) and Sydney (13) are actually non-counters, as are Toronto (1) and New Haven (1), since while they are Premiers, they are not mandatories, and she only played qualifying anyway. So that gives you your total of 320 + 240 - 30 = 530.
Edit: Strange - I could have saved myself the trouble (thanks paulisi) but paulisi's post didn't appear when I looked at the thread 5-10 minutes ago despite him posting it over half an hour ago. Hopefully the reconciliation between the 320 and 530 figures might have helped though.

Thanks i'd totally forgotten about your other tables steven haha, seems abit daft that the WTA don't include ITF points, i'm sure it would make life alot easier for everyone if they did! Anyway thanks for solving my problem guys A+ :)
